"Animal welfare is hugely important to us. We are hugely passionate about animals and even rear some of our own free range hens in our garden. We have said no to caged hen eggs and made a commercial decision to spend more money to ensure free range eggs in all of our products. Having made the decision to rear some of our own free range hens it seemed hypocritical to be buying caged hen eggs for our products so five years ago we made the decision to switch everything to free range.

We have seen the benefits of the switch to free-range over the past 5 years and have been able to tell our customers that we use only free range eggs, this has helped to raise brand awareness and to ensure that our customers know they are buying free range with our product.

We are now starting to interrogate other areas of our supply chain like pork to see how we can make improvements to animal welfare going forward, and we would like to look at trying to use free range chicken in the future."
